Our traveling Saturdays are winding down. In fact, today is our last trip and we went back to my ancestral town, Leingarten, to see my cousins there. They were excited to take us on an outing to Heilbronn to visit one of their favorite shops called Reinhardt or Schnee Hase (snow rabbit).
Jutta said when she was a little girl, the Schnee Hase truck would come to her town once a year with wares for sale. She loves this store. It was in a house with so many rooms fill with so many things–tools, kitchen wares, soap, cleaning supplies, containers, garden things, dishes, pots and pans, utensils–so many things.
They Insisted on buying a Spaetzle maker for me. It’s the kind they use. I’m happy to have it, and it will be a nice memory of their kindness.
Before people had Spaetzle makers, they would make the dough, then cut it into the thin noodles on boards like these.

Once back in Leingarten, we went to the Kipp Bakery for some treats to have after lunch.

In Germany, you can buy colored hardboiled eggs all year long.

I got a pretzel, in memory of my Grandma, who bought them here many years ago.
