I went on a little outing to Rottenburg with Sisters, Feinauer, Wall, and Sister Miner who is leaving soon. She organized this trip back to one of her favorite towns before she departs. We were happy to keep her company!
Rottenburg is one of the gems of Germany. It’s a place you keep going back to again and again. We had a lovely day there.

While the ladies shopped and looked for postcards, I wandered down to St. Jakob’s Church.

You’re allowed to go into the church if you’re there to worship. The man at the pay desk said, “just go in, sit and say a prayer.” I was happy to do that.

The dates on these pieces!

We found a fun place to have lunch: power bowls.

We found a little shop with a delightful German shopkeeper. She was in her 70s, and she loved art and art prints. I enjoyed visiting with her while I made a purchase–a sketch of an older German woman with her harvested vegetables. It reminded me of my ancestor mothers.

Interesting doorbells:

We all walked through the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas shops.

Here are 4 versions of the most photographed scene in Germany:

We visited the Judengasse (Jewish Ghetto Street) that dates back to 1377.

At the end of the day 3 of us hiked up to the city wall and walked around a good part of the city on the ramparts.

The rampart floor we walked on was like a patchwork quilt.

There are several towers and gates in the city wall surrounding Rottenburg.

It was a great day. We’ll be back here again next month when our kids come to visit.
