Volker took us to the Dom Cathedral in the center of town. It’s huge and it’s from the 1200s. The tower is 93 meters high, Romanesque, with a Gothic nave and windows. The crypt has a famous Saint in it, patron of the city. Outside the church are the foundation remains of a church owned or built (?) by Jerome, Napoleon’s brother.

This is the shell of a bomb that was dropped on Paderborn, killing many.

Here’s a very famous window found in the courtyard of the cathedral:

The “Three Hare’s Window” is one of the traditional symbols of Paderborn. The 3 rabbits’ ears come together in the middle and 3 ears look like each rabbit has 2 of them. It’s really creative. The three ears are arranged to form a triangle, with each pair of adjacent hares sharing an ear. The rabbits are chasing each other in a circle.
„Der Hasen und der Löffel drei, und doch hat jeder Hase zwei.“
“There are three hares and three ears, and yet every hare has two.”
Here are some manhole covers from Paderborn with the 3 rabbit symbol:

Now we go into the cathedral:
