Today, we learned, is a big festival or celebration day here in Paderborn where the men and women march around town in their military uniforms and medals, playing instruments like in a parade.
The music was so fun, energetic really peppy. There were dozens of different groups in different uniforms. The ones from Paderborn were green. There were officials at the Rathaus and horses and speeches. It was a pretty big deal and it was fun to be in the middle of it.
The website about the festival reported: “The Paderborn Citizens’ Rifle Club is still on the rise. With 4,600 members, it has reached a historic record. The conditions are therefore ideal for the 165th Rifle Festival. The club is expecting up to 15,000 visitors from July 12 to 15.”
