La Rue de Vin — Stopping in Ribeauville

From Strasburg, we made our way south in France to the famous Wine Route.  It’s a road that winds through vineyards and wine country and charming towns and villages.

We will definitely be back to this area, maybe during the harvest season or when our kids visit.  Barr would be a great place to stay.  The winding road goes through each town, so you get a nice feel for each area.

Our first real stop to get out and wander was in Ribeauville.

These villages are surrounded by vineyards.  Reminded me of home.

Most of these villages date back to the Medieval times and the homes are beautifully and proudly still standing in all their colorful glory.

It was fun to be here at Christmas time.  Some still had Christmas Markets going on, some just the Christmas decor.

You’ll notice in these photos that in France, there are a lot of stuffed bears and animals used in their outdoor decor. I felt sorry for them. It was often cold and rainy and they wanted to go inside and sit by a fire.

Here’s what we had for lunch–cheese and a fresh baguette!
