
The Senior couples serving in the Frankfurt area gather every other Monday evening for a special Family Home Evening. They take turns presenting a lesson or discussion. This was our first time attending and we were really lucky to get to hear from Dave and Kathi Irving who recently served as Church History Missionaries in South Africa. They were responsible for recording oral histories from members and missionaries in the Southern Africa Area. Their presentation was fascinating (and it made me a little homesick for a land I love).


The Irvings were in South Africa until they had to evacuate during Covid. During the epidemic they lived in Salt Lake City and continued their service from there. Sis Irving did a great work, helping to compile information for the digital book, “A People and a Place Prepared–A Brief History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Africa.” When the restrictions for travel were lifted, they returned to South Africa to finish their mission, and then some.


After their excellent presentation, we had some amazingly delicious cakes with ice cream and plenty of time to visit. Here are some of our friends:
